Who runs JobSlop
JobSlop is a free job-listing research service at https://jobslop.io. It is run personally by its individual developer, not by a company. Privacy questions go to hello@jobslop.com. This page covers the website. The browser extension is covered by the extension privacy policy.
What we collect
- Browsing the index. You do not need an account. The site sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts, fonts or CDNs. If you switch to dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
- Server requests. Your IP address reaches our server with every request, as it does for any website. The web server does not keep an access log. The app holds the IP address in memory for about ten minutes to limit how often a company can be submitted, and does not store it.
- AI assistants (the MCP endpoint at /mcp). Answers come only from the public index. We do not store what an assistant asks. As with the website, the IP address is held in memory for about a minute to limit request rates, and is not stored.
- Submitting a company. We store the domain or job URL you enter, the company name we derive from it, and when it was submitted. We do not store your IP address or any other information about who submitted it. Please do not put personal information in a submitted URL.
- Job listings. We store public job-listing data: employer, title, location, listing URL, posting date, description and when we saw the listing.
- Extension users. If you are given extension access, we hold your email address, display name, a hash of your token, your credit usage, and the listings you scan with their results. See the extension privacy policy.
How we use it
To run the public index and the company watchlist, to answer extension scans, to prevent abuse, and to fix problems. We do not sell information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it for marketing.
Who else processes it
- DigitalOcean hosts the server, the database and our DNS. All the information above is stored there.
- Let's Encrypt issues our HTTPS certificate. It receives no visitor data.
- Neon hosted the database until October 2026 and may still hold a copy of data from before then.
Job listings and the public index at /data.json are public by design. Nothing else listed here is published.
How long we keep it
- Job listings are deleted 100 days after they were last seen.
- Company submissions and extension scan history are kept until the operator removes them. If an extension account is deleted, its scans are kept without the link to the account.
- Rate-limit data in memory is cleared after about ten minutes, or when the app restarts.
Your choices
You can use the site without registering. To ask about, correct or delete information about you, email hello@jobslop.com. Your rights depend on where you live and whether privacy laws there cover a service of this size. We may need to keep some information for legal or security reasons.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. The database is not reachable from the internet, and extension tokens are stored only as hashes. No system is completely secure.
Children
JobSlop is meant for adult job seekers, not children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's information. Contact us if you think a child has sent us personal information.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. For a material change, we will also post a notice on the site.
